Long hike yesterday...and discovered halfway in that some hotspots and blisters were forming. And me with no band-aids. Added 2 to the wallet.

Still learning,

a couple of the cloth knuckle bandaids and a couple feet of duct tape on a card comes in pretty handy... if you don't have access to an MRE hot beverage bag, a couple of passes with the heat sealer lengthwise down a food saver bag makes a pretty good "just in case" water container that folds flat in a pair of cargo pockets

I have been working in the garden. I've also been working with fencing wire. Fencing wire 'bites'.

It's amazing how many band-aids I've been using in the course of one day! They're cheap and boring, but they help protect wounds from contamination.

I guess most cheap first-aid kits mostly contain band-aids because the things you need most out of them are... band-aids.

Funny, I never gave much thought to bandaids until I had kids. Used to think they were a waste of space in a FAK. I used blister pads or moleskin for blisters or cuts in awkward places like the fingers, steri-strips for deeper cuts and gauze pads for larger abrasions. I used to think that if a cut was small enough to only need a bandaid then good old fresh air was better for it. Now, I go through bandaids like crazy to protect those small abrasions from further contamination because no little scrape or cut is going to keep my guy down! Since I carry them for him, I use use them for myself now too. My parents used to say they should have taken out J&J stock when I was a kid and I'm starting to think the same thing now!

Most injuries and inconveniences are minor. And never underestimate the magical soothing effects of a princess or Ligthning MqQueen band-aid.... wink

Lacking blister aid can be a minor nuissance, a serious inconvenience or a serious problem. Depends on location on situation.

I always carry a few bandaids in my wallet. It definitely reduces the pucker factor when someone gets an owwie...

Leukotape is great for hotspots.

Duct tape makes an awesome blister bandage - all smooth and strong. Not friendly to the skin, but has got me home a couple of times when sweaty feet and rubbing boots would have stripped a blister bandage in seconds.

But band aids are good, and especially with kids. We are not always prepping for TEOTWAWKI - sometimes we'd just like to enjoy our day out
