Have you added any new bug-in gear [as opposed to supplies] in 2010?

for hurricane season...Yankee screwdriver to back up a new Rigid portable drill to board up the old place....backed up my propane stove with a surplus Swiss Volcano stove adapted to use a Trangia alcohol stove...still looking for a transparent hemispherical lid for a 5gal solar desal project....still slightly less than 500ml/day in the original form....looking for a small metal garden sprayer (that can be directly heated) rather than my solar heated sprayer I use for shower...AR10

I spent way too much money this year.

- Toyota Rav 4 with great tires.
- Kerosene heater for shelter-in-place, plus fuel
- Sidewinder AA LED Light
- Another Petzl Headlamp
- Fallkniven F1 knife
- Silnylon poncho
- Nylon Basha
- Cold Steel Shovel
- Made a couple new Survival Kits

- 3-day Backpack
- Single Burner Coleman Stove
- Signal Strobe
- Goretex Shell Jacket
- Thanks Nighthiker!

We are spending a lot this year also. Although not installed yet, next week, we are having an automatic natural gas generator (with associated transfer gear) installed. It will power enough of our critical circuits to keep the house livable and warm when the power goes out, as it does often in our neighborhood.

OT: SwampDonkey, when you test out the kerosene heater, post your impressions, will you? Thanks, Doug

I upgraded my primary rifle this year. That wasn't cheap. I'm carrying a spare EDC flashlight. Bought a new rain shell. Built a small laptop bag kit for days that I commute on the train. Otherwise I've been careful to ensure that anything that was expended or expired was replaced.

Hey Doug,

I am ashamed to say it but the Kerosene Heater is still in the box hidden in the garage, I did not get SPOUSAL APPROVAL before purchase. I figure if I give it to my wife as a Christmas present then I will be in The Doghouse but if I bring out of no-where during a power outage, I will be a HERO!

I have to test it out and learn how to run it before I really need it, review to follow.

Later, Mike
