Do you conceal part of your EDC?

If someone took what was in your pockets, bag, briefcase, purse, whatever, do you have any part of your material EDC concealed so a casual mugging or theft leaves you with something?

Everything in my EDC can be replaced. In the case of a mugging or theft, that IS the emergency. Restock. Move on.

However, if you're thinking about a mugging DURING a disaster or emergency, I would hope to have my stuff scattered in enough places to make the thief nervous from the delay of finding it.

Or, I might just lose my temper and stomp him to death. It kind of depends on the day. Robbing an already-PO'd woman seems like a really stupid thing to do... Criminals who can't read body language deserve to die. *shrugs* NEXT!

that's how I see it as well. However it's worth nothing that a few of the items in my EDC are to help prevent a successful mugging (such as self defense).

I typically carry a purse or small bag of some kind as girl clothes don't have a lot of pockets. I also just find it far easier to always have a single grab-and-go bag than to have to repack items every day into my new clothes. That means if someone were to take my bag they take my whole EDC. *shrugs* I really can't see any practical alternative to that.

Or I can simply retrieve my D-Cell MAG-LITE from my purse.

My limited, but adaptable, EDC is in my pockets. Light and compact are for me the key to any EDC. If it gets in my way I will, in time, start leaving it at home. Nothing I carry should or would cause alarm or raise eyebrows. The exception being a Leatherman Wave when I try to get into the courthouse (sigh). None of it, except the wallet, is the sort of stuff anyone would mug you for.

Just my pistol. But if all the Bad Guy wants is my other stuff, he's welcome to it.

I usually don't make a point of flashing my EDC stuff around, but wouldn't say I actually hide it.

My gun is usually concealed though.

It's called "looting" and it's a real potential problem. In the event you are caught in a major US city during a large natural disaster - you need to be able to protect your survival supplies. Of course you can make a choice to help your neighbors and to share your food/water/meds.

But this doesn't mean that there aren't some bad (or desperate) people who won't try to take your stuff aggressively.

It would be smart to divide your resources and keep vital things hidden.
