Hey everyone,

My son has asked me to build him a microphone preamplifier that is tube-based. In general, this would not be a problem as there are a gzillion schematics out there on the Worldwide Interspace. The problem I am having is that many of the simpler designs (the only ones I can handle) call for audio transformers which are very spendy. Also, most of the schematics are using 1/4" jacks, whereas I need to incorporate XLR jacks. The end problem is matching the impedances so that the tubes will work properly. If anyone has any ideas or any inclination to help, it would be greatly appreciated. We can do the PM and/or email thing. I have a couple of schematics that I am considering so anyone helping will be not totally blind on the direction I am taking. Now, if someone has a couple of audio transformers that they want to get rid of inexpensively, I am not opposed to that either. Anyway, let me know. Thanks a ton.
