Is it better to have them laminated and sturdy or use paper and be able to add items?

I do laminate some of them, especially ones that I want to be immediately accessible by others. The Emergency Generator Checklist is laminated. It sits on top of the generator, held in place by the small red toolbox that is used only for the generator.

I've been working on an emergency departure checklist that won't be too overwhelming for my wife to use in my absence. It's a work in progress, but if I ever get it finished it too will be laminated. It might end up being multiple pages.

My kids' BOBs have Emergency Contact Cards that I created and laminated.

...I'm also working on luggage tags for each bag, stating what's inside.
( e.g Duffel #1: sleeping bag, pad, two man tent.)

I just laminated (sort of) a checklist on a 3x5 card that's attached to the handle of my duffle bag. The bag stays packed with 90% of the items need for any trip...mostly clothes, toiletries, etc. The stuff I need to make sure I take or need to refill from previous trips I have on the card. I just used clear packing tape and doubled it up over the card. The other side of the card I'll write with a sharpie add'l items needed for seasonal changes or for trip specific items. This bag is not my BOB but just my travel bag. I do this for my other bags after trips to make sure I replenish used items or to stow items I wish I had brought (we've all been there too many times, eh?).

I generally just use a notebook or my tablet. I like capturing post trip notes and make updates for laminated just seems like a waste of time for me.

On the other hand, we have a laminated "Pack It!" check list for our son for camping trips. It lives in his pack when they're home, and at home when they're out.

Office supply stores do laminating by the sheet. If you are doing several small lists it's still the same price because it's only using one sheet. The last time I had it done it was a few dollars a sheet. They usually also have different grades for heavy use. I had some machinery maintenance checklists with blank spaces for the date/time of required service laminated and attached a china marker to write on the laminate and after 5 years of use they would look like new after being wiped with alcohol.

I'm adding luggage tags to each bag, listing what its for ( sleeping gear, clothes, truck bag, etc.) and whats in it.

Otherwise its just too many duffles.
