Does anyone have any feedback/experience with the Katadyn's Micropur MP1 water purification tablets?
Katadyn's states that this is a "chlorine dioxide..easy to use water purification tablet that is safer than iodine or chlorine. Infact, it is the only technology currently registered by the EPA that controls cryptosporidium, a waterborne cyst."

I'm not a chemist or epidemiologist, but from what I've read chlorine dioxide is a very effective water treatment, perhaps the best. Whereas iodine generally won't kill cryptosporidium, chlorine dioxide will.

I have used the MP-1 Tablets,quite a few times,& They work well!It's a 4hr wait time for Correct effectiveness per 1 liter of Non-turbid or Tepid water.I've found,Having Multiple Containers,Works best,though I have used a 4-liter container once,with 4-tabs at 1 time,& Noticed a slight Chlorine taste,Similar to L.A. Tap water.
MP1 tabs are great. I use a coffee filter to pre-filter the water (basically to strain out all the larger dirt and what-not), then add the appropriate amount of MP1 tablets. Gives water a slight chlorine taste, but it's no worse than a lot of tap water I've drank over they years, and it sure beats getting sick. One thing I really like about them is that they kill cryptosporidium, giardia, viruses, and bacteria; most of your other common methods do not work against all of them.
(For example, most filters fail to filter out viruses; Iodine and regular chlorine fail against Cryptosporidium.)
