So, any 'threats' for this New Years Holiday?

Uh, isn't that supposed to be New Year's 2009?

And I always duck under cover when the locals start shooting their guns up in the air every 12/31 terminus. Reminds me of Baghdad at the end of Ramadan. 10,000 fanatics discharging their AK-47s straight up.

Tracers arcing over Sadr City are almost as much fun as fireworks. You gotta be mindful, though, as the ones that don't seem to have any arc may be inbound.

I gave an evil chuckle at that last line - Dad and I used to team up - he used is 12 gage, and I used my 10-22, that way we could take treed squirrels (Dad) or long range ground shots (me - back when I used to practice, I was a fairly good shot). Collected our fair share. Joke? Where we hunted had, and has, a lot less squirrels than where we live (a part of NYC). Sit in the park 100 yds from Dad's place, and I've counted 30-40 in eyesite at one time!

Cooking wise - treat them like boney rabbit - we usually do a stew in red wine, and serve with polenta - aka French/Italian style

Actually, it would still be New Year's Eve 2009, but that's okay, I think you are right. Folks know what we're talking about.

Squirrel Fricasse. Everything goes better with beer and tabasco sauce, don't cha know?

"...duck under cover..."

Yup. Last couple of years I worked before retiredment were in a pretty fair sized town/city, with only one multi-level parking area. Come midnight, nothing but black and whites down on the lowest level. California at New Years can be scary...

Spent one New Years in Pasadena Ca. Three days before the cleaning staff left a note marking several local multi-level parking garages. I thought Hmmm... Maybe I ask about this one at the front desk.
That evening was spent with several of your former co-workers in one of the buildings my crews were working at. Just south of the 210 @ 210 S Lake. (lake & Colorado) They pulled in for cover and we invited them into the Radio Room for more cover (all concrete) Next morning one of my guys found a spent 7.62x39 projectile on the roof while testing antennas.
