The much trailed 'Survivorman' series is on the UK Discovery channel at 9pm tonight. NTL 212.
'Alaska The Last Frontier' is on just after it and during the day as is a 'Future Weapons' on alaskan military gear.

The Survivorman in Africa episode last night was almost a send up of the knife fans amongst us. He bought a machete and his ever present multitool (which is never identified) and a 'big ol knife' with no more details given. Then tied it to the end of a stick to use as a spear for predators. It seemed that was the only reason he wanted it.
One of the most respected people in the survival field usually just brings a multitool.

He posted on his website that his multitool is a Leatherman Wave... the newer model...

in almost every photo / video i've ever seen of native african bushmen, they are carrying spears.
