I am speaking strictly in generic terms to avoid any religious discussions.

This weekend I spoke with our chaplain regarding natural and man made disaster plans the house of worship has. None exists at this time. He has however spoken with other chaplains in the area regarding readying their respective houses of worship. Because I have earned a reputation for first aid with experience to back it up, our chaplain wants me to play a part in the disaster preparation process.

More information as it becomes available.

'Here is the church, here is the steeple. Open the doors, and theres all the people.' While wiggling your hands for the sunday school, dunk them in some muddy water and involve the kids too! Generic discussions are no fun. Since you've let slip your conversation was on the weekend with your chaplain we all know your a Buddhist. Just be sure to involve the local temple and don't park in the Reverand's spot at the Presbyterians. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

one tip, when you plan on buying things, make sure you got the right thing. I have seen many thing being bought, which looked right at the time, but turned out to beform inadequately. This can be very pricy when done on a larger scale...

Generic discussions also prevent the discussion of religion which as I understand is against forum policy.

I read at least close to all of Doug's reviews. Furthermore I read other opinions and reviews when available. After careful consideration, I buy something. Then, after careful personal evaluation, I give my recommendation to others.

I thought chaplain was the old army priest title (trying to remember back to the MASH re-runs).
Any church should have a preparedness plan, to make it less "survivalist" you could call it a disaster recovery plan, for businesses large to small and organizations the DR plan is something that has become a big buzzword since 9/11.
Most churches have different community outreach programs, weather it be door to door visiting, feeding the homeless, visiting members in the hospital, etc. You should have some sort of plan to continue those should something happen to the church building, flood, fire, or how to help a member family who suffers a loss due to one of those reasons. When I was with the small computer company I would steer churches toward the small business DR plans, even though the churches are not businesses their DR operation is similar to a small non profit business so most of the documents and templates apply.
