Here's what I learned:

1. Wear your comfy sweatsuit that doesn't contain metal.
2. Ask for a blanket if they don't offer one. They offered one and I accepted. It was chilly in there.
3. Ask your doctor for a prescription for Valium if you are nervous or fidgety. Take one tablet one hour before you are supposed to be there. I did and it worked. I didn't fidget at all.
4. Bring foam ear plugs with you and use them. The inside of an MRI is noisy in addition to being chilly.
5. Because of the Valium, have someone drive you to your appointment and home afterwards.
6. The MRI people were kind, considerate, and thoughtful. The exact opposite of what my mom told me. So wherever the devil she went for her MRI, I'm never going there.

Next up: a botox injection to see if it will prevent migraines. The surprise here is, my insurance has approved it

Good luck with the migraines. I also am plagued by migraines, and meds have been partially sucessful at controlling them.
I am glad your MRI experience wasn't too stressful.

It was not stressful because I made sure I was prepared. That's what this site is all about. And I love that Valium. Ha! It calmed me right down. My mother takes Xanax, but she needs it, having to be the caregiver for her 95-year-old mother.

Mom suggested I get a prescription for Valium and take it daily! She said it would help take the edge off. Playfully, I said, what edge? She replied, well, you are kind of hot-wired, you know.

I know myself well enough to know I am on the tense side of things. Kind of wound up. Always have been. I also fidget. But when it comes right down to it, I like being edgy. It makes me, "me." <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks, dude. Oddly enough, my neurologist suggested Topamax during my last visit. So I'm giving it a try.
