Depends....Do you want a multi-tool, a locking bladed SAK, or a classic style SAK? What will it be used for? Any particular tools you are looking for in one?

My favorite is the Huntsman; if buying one now I'd get the Huntsman Plus. There's a similar model that substitutes a Phillips screwdriver for the corkscrew; BSA sells it as a "Huntsman", but IIRC its plain vanilla name is really the Fieldmaster

(edited post to put in picture links)

Shop the prices hard - these are a great value.

Any Victorinox is a good choice, I've got one that's been used and abbused for over fifteen years, and aside from a side scale coming off once (which was quick-fixed with a dab of epoxy), I've never had a complaint. Pick one that suits your needs blade-wise and have at it...I've got a swisschamp, but I don't worry too much about the humongous lump in my pocket when I carry it either... to each his own.

Leeman:

I too have the SAK "Huntsman" model. Though mine is a much older model (25+ years) it still is going strong. I have had to replace the toothpick (4 times) Tweezers (once) and now will need to replace the screw for the scissors. Not too bad for the length of ownership. I have also kept the knife, clean and sharp, which you should do with all knives, but some people I know won't bother. The most punishment I can recall having done to the knife is letting a so called professional sharpen the main blade. He about ruined it. I managed to locate another professional and he corrected the problem. Most interesting use? I used it to cut off a pair of Biker Boots on an ambulance call one-time. Not recommended for your own health and safety sake. The guy had tried to avoid a stupid "pull in front of him motorist" and hit a phone pole instead. Broke his lower leg. I was threatened by him for "cutting the boots" (note: cut along seam, easy repair) since I was also in Law Enforcement, I just reached into my pocket and showed him my badge. He became apologetic and the job was done.
Like Paul810 has said, it depends on the job and for what purpose you have in mind. Since I live in Idaho, not too many are offended by knives. If you just need something simple choose the "classic series." I might also note the added addition of a small lanyard to the keyring. I use a cellular phone size for mine and find it is much easier to retrieve from the fanny pack.

Take care,

leeman, try going to a site like www.eknifeworks.com that has a lot of SAK's. Look them over and consider what you need/want to do with your SAK. Get the one that best fits your needs. I still carry and use the SAK I bought 20 years ago. I picked up a used SAK for $5.00 recently and it cleaned up very well.

I just ordered 2 knives that are just like the one I've been carrying for ~ 25 years - a Huntsman without the hook. Here's the really good part - they are $15.99 US!!! The shipping on one makes it a pretty good deal; the shipping on 2 is only a dollar more. The picture on this site does not show the saw, but it's there. Here's the link

I'm mildly excited! The current models with the hook are OK, but this is my favorite and they are CHEAP.

Glad you found something there for a good price. Another place that has good prices is www.cdnninvestments.com
They sell mostly shooting stuff, but they do have a limited selection of SAK's. Last year I think I paid $7.99 for the SAK Backpacker model .

I saw that one, too - pretty neat. It's one layer over my self-imposed limit of 4 for daily carry - they had to add a 5th layer for the LED/battery (which is why it has the phillips added - it's in the added layer). Still, I think it's pretty cool!
