Morakniv recently came out with an upscale line of kitchen knives called "Classic 1891." Figured there are so many Mora fans on ETS that others may have been looking at them, too.

I've been wanting a new paring knife and wasn't planning on spending so much ($50) but I've become a loyal Mora fan and appreciate the tremendous value in their other knife lines so opted to buy the paring (3" blade) and the "1891 Classic Utility Knife" (5" blade, like a small chef's knife, for $100).

Three more cheers for RagweedForge.com -- placed my order Friday evening and it arrived this morning (Monday). Shipping was a grand total of $6 (the flat fee he charges for U.S. purchases no matter how many knives you order). Am delighted with these. Not sure they are as great of a value as their other knife lines but I'm pleased with the fit and finish. The blades are pretty thin and I did a couple side-by photos with the Mora classic #3 (6" blade, .098" thickness) and #1

Haven't used them yet (wanted to photograph first) but will comment again after using them a bit.

I'm a sucker for Mora knives so will probably end up getting the bread knife and the 9" chef knife (despite already having a nice one from AG Russell).

Again, many thanks to Ragweed Forge -- really sensational customer service and a straightforward, informative website.

In the photos below - the view of the top of the two blades - the classic #3 is below and the 1891 5" Utility is above.

The last photo has the classic #3 on top, the 1891 5" next, the 1891 paring 3" next and the classic #1 on the very bottom.

I like that paring knife. I would use it out in the field. That said I do use my field knives in the kitchen....
