I would give the standard disclaimer, you know, no affiliation and what not, but this guys is an old friend of mine and the knives I have seen of his are very nice. I do not benefit from posting this.

TCTknives

There are other knife makers in this area, and I will try to get some information on them to share. It is always good to have more sources for good hand made knives.

Bill Maynard makes custom knives, and he's right outside Hope Mills. On the street past the bank on Cumberland, take a right, he's down near the end, just off the bypass. A search online shows no info, I can get the phone number if you want on Friday when I go cash my check. He also sets up at the Gun shows at the civic center.

as long as we are on the subject here is a photo of my work in progress.

sometime last winter i think i ran a photo of the blade my Wife had made for me by a local metal smith.well the blade is in that block of wood wrapped in foil and wax paper.
during the late winter i glued up the handle out of a bit of wood from a lighting struck tree, sections of heavy birch bark washed up on the Lake Superior shore, leather rounds and that red pressed fabric they sell in the on line knife shops.
next and last is the butt that i'll shape from the bar of aluminum.i have a drill press set up to drill the hole for the shaft on the end and then when i have the handle well roughed out i'll drill big holes in the aluminum to get a balance and then finish out the handle.
when it's done i'll post my own topic with the project from start to finish----and then there is the sheath of course-------

Great Thread!

Here's a couple links to the websites of some knifemaking friends of mine.

Melton Knife and Design

Phil Rose Knives

I'd post some pics of knives I make, but I believe that's against forum policy.
