A sunny day, a gang of friends, and a fleet of kayaks makes for a day of relaxation. Looks like a couple of the guys were worried about the sun.
What was the lure used for the longnose gar?
A foot-long piece of white nylon rope, with a weight where the line joins the rope, is excellent. When a gar (which is a predator, apparently mistaking the rope for a snake or other edible prey) strikes, its teeth hook in the rope and it can't get free, no matter how much it thrashes.
Might be something to include in a survival fishing kit, if you're is areas where gar are common.
Thanks for the photos of the winter expedition!
