For those of you who own Benchmade knives you probably know that they offer a program called Lifesharp where they will re-sharpen any of their knives (once a year) back to factory specs for a $5 fee. I recently sent my 906 to them and just received it back today, razor sharp. They also buffed out the scratches I had put on the blade and cleaned and lubed it like new. It took just short of 2 weeks from my local post office back to my front door via Fedex.

Not sure this would be the deciding factor in picking one knife over another, but it's a pretty good example of a commitment to customer service.

As much as I have tried to learn the art of sharpening knives I'll just never master the craft. Nice to know that a company will back me up.

Cheers!

Andy

I've had two occasions where I had to send a knife to Benchmade. One was for Lifesharp and the other for repair. Both good experiences.

The $5 isn't a fee.... it's for return shipping charges laugh

That's a good question about the Ritter knives. I bet they would.

If your Ritter knife says Benchmade on it, such as the RSK Mk 1 and mini, then it's a Benchmade. My RSK Mk1 came in a Benchmade box and if the edge became out of control dull, I wouldn't hesitate to send it in for the Lifesharp service.

+1

I've sent my Benchmade Mini Grip back at least 3 times. Comes back great every time, I second the approx. 2 week turn around.

It's great, since I usually sharpen my knives "worse" than they do. The annual tune up also tightens screws, resets the tension on the blade, cleans out the gunk in the handles, etc. Pretty much a tune-up on the entire knife.

Yep, the package insert with my RSK mentions the Lifesharp service.
