Sometimes when you are out and about driving, you see all kinds of crazy things that drivers do. Sometimes I have called the local police and reported the stupid dangerous things I have seen drivers do. I used to be a medic and responded to countless car accidents, sometimes due to poor driver judgement.

Today the car in question turned off into a neighborhood and I didn't get a chance to call it in.

Kids were in the back seat, the driver was where the driver should be......driving about 40 MPH through a busy part of town.....while the passenger on the right was steering the car.

Ever see someone driving, with a book resting open on the wheel?? Said driver was all over I-70 in IN. I did 911 the driver, and stayed on the line (hands free) for 20 plus miles while letting the dispatcher know where he was, at their request.

I've tried to call in reckless or dangerous drivers but the disaptchers in my city all get annoyed and do their best to get me off the phone. Just one more reason I'm trying to sell my house within the city limits and move someplace outside it.

The sad truth is that many of the things that we see on the roads are not violations that an officer can actually issue a citation for.

Example: In CA, when citing someone for exceeding the safe speed limit, the officer must put what he/she considered the safe speed limit to be at that time, in addition to the speed the vilator was going, and the posted speed limit. I learned the hard way that an officer can not put zero as a safe speed. In many cases that means that the only section left would be reckless driving, and sometimes you KNOW that a reckless will not fly, so all you can do is give a verbal warning. Then go kick your tires or something to work off the frustration...
