Is there a rising trend of young unmarried single mothers in N. America? I noticed that other forums seem to have abundance of single mothers whom never been married or gone through divorced.

I find that this is disturbing trend in society. I hope that I haven't offend anyone by posting this thread. Shouldn't the young women get married properly? These women have good education background but they don't want to get married. Am I missing something here?

You think they were trying to get divorced when they got married? Can't put the blame on the women, either... they ARE divorcing men.

A good education just means you're good at books, not life. Besides, they might be smart enough to wait.

Personally, I'm a never married 28 y/o male. By the time I finish school and get out in the real world I'll be nearly 31. I joke that it'll be just in time to catch the women after their first divorce.

Every one of those children in that single mother family has a father. He did his part willingly enough. If this issue is to be addressed, let's address both parties involved.

no. they aren't divorcing men. These young women have part-time boy friends, sort of.

Some do, some don't. But still, can't put all the blame on the women. It takes 2 to tango, so let's address all the "wham, bam, thank you ma'am" guys out there as well.

An interesting tidbit I heard in a class, the highest percentage of unwed mothers was actually in the 1950s...

My wifes oldest daughter decided when she was about 10 that she was going to have a baby when she was 25. Twenty five came along, she was in the Air Force and unwed, so she found herself a sperm supplier and had the cutest little boy you ever did see. She is not a perfect mother, but not the worlds worse either. While that is not the way it was done in my day, the times they are a changin', and I guess we have to change with them...

Speaking as a Father of 3 young girls ages 8, 5 and 9 months... They will drag me naked by the hair over 500 miles of broken glass before I will ever change my morals or abdicate my duty and obligation (not to mention honor) of teaching my children right from wrong, and that marriage is for life and that you get married before you have children.
