Polak187:

I don't know, especially after seeing that new mentos commercial with the dog if I will ever use mints again.

Imagine their disappointment upon opening an Altoids tin and finding a PSK!

They say that when you bite into a mint there is a spark.Could this be an alternate signal device <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

It's true, but only for Wintergreen. It's called "triboluminescence". I've done it with wintergreen Lifesavers, but not Altoids. It's a very low-intensity, bluish "spark".

Maybe the Fresnel lens from your PSK might help magnify (or would that be focus?) the spark, plus you'd literally have to hold your mouth right! <img src="images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hmmm...how about a Wintergreen mint AND a tinder cube? Why, the possibilities are endless!

It would certainly make for a memorable fire starting experience!

A Tinder Mint! Simple, if you want flames - bite it while blowing softly and then spit before your mouth burns. If you don't want flames don't bite until you have immersed it in saliva and better would be to enjoy sucking it rather than biting it.

Something in celulose perhaps....
