Dislike the brightly coloured garish gear and clothing, but it's better to be red than dead.

If I could reclaim the time I have spent searching for drably dressed subjects I would be ten years younger.

As always there is a reasonable middle ground. Dress in subdued colors, which are appropriate for many activities, but have some article of clothing or other means to make yourself glaringly conspicuous, night or day.

Yeah. High vis vest, or dayglow rucksack day cover etc.

Also some situations where you have an emergency kit and definitely want to be found if your having to resort to using it, so can all be bright colours. Off roading, pilot etc.

I’m refreshing my “unexpected night out” gear and selected a blaze orange tarp for shelter.
