Has anyone used this? Is it worth replacing the old regular electronic flare?

Actually a fairly common led 'flare'. Made as a OEM product and sold under several brand names.

I have 4 of these flares. Sturdy, good grip, magnetic base is handy to stick in to your car. On button is not very visible and small. I used a permanent marker to highlight the button, put a arrow pointing to the on button and numbered them (for identification purposes). Due to the size of the button, hard to operate with gloves on (and people with fat fingers).

The included CR123 on mine where cheap, no-names one's with lots of spell errors on them. But seem to hold up pretty well.

Rechargeable versions are also available.

Not sure what "old regular electronic flare" are. These seems to be pretty standard to me. As with all lights/flares; useless in the sun, work great in the dark.

These actually run off of AAA batteries, which are easily available, but probably not as good as the CR123 types due to battery life expectancy. I've tested these, they are surprisingly bright and have a couple different flash patterns IIRC. Very Durable.. Apparently you can run over them w/o too much damage. At 1/3 the cost of your other ones, I think they might be a viable alternative depending on your needs.

I always figured if I went down in a ditch or my car was stranded in a blizzard etc, these would be a good beacon of "Hey! There's something here!"... (Please don't rear end my car!)

The local Ace has those clip on bicycle flashers for a couple of bucks. I could see one would be better served with a half dozen of those and some double sided tape. More is better when it comes to flashing lights getting peoples attention...

These are very bright strobes designed to clip onto a life jacket. They USCG approved emergency signaling devices and are waterproof. With a bit of duct tape you could attach them anywhere.

I have no commection to NRS other than that I have purchased stuff from them in the past and have been very satisfied with both the quality of the gear and their service. These and similar strobes are also available at other retailers that cater to sea kayakers and boaters.

I am a huge fan of the ACR 4F, now superseded by more advanced models. min have always infallably brought the helicopter hovering overhead in short order. The marine models are built to fairly rigorous standards and won't go on the blink when you need them (Actually they do go on the blink, but you know what I mean).
