One thing thats in all my FAKs are exam gloves. Useful for protecting YOU and nicely cheap and compact. I also EDC a pair in a small containers. (Hard to improvise)

an MD friend suggested 3 pairs for each responder...I use nitrile in case a user has a latex allergy

Ditto. Also, I like that pinholes are obvious in nitrile gloves vs latex.

That's a good criterion for any kit (medical, survival, etc) in a resource-limited environment.

Don't forget to change them out occasionally. Latex especially degrades over time.

And I've definitely gone through 3-4 pairs of gloves on scene before. Extra are good. My car FAK has a ziploc bag full of gloves (that probably should be replaced ... )

Ditto on the changing out FAK gloves. I found out the hard way that they indeed lose their elasticity over time, in that when I needed a pair from a kit, they split right open(!). And I have small hands...

I now switch 'em out when I check/replace other items, at least on a yearly basis.
