Hi guys and gals.

Just thought I'd share. grin
I was playing with my firelighting gear and got an idea shocked
I put a very tiny piece off of a PJ bal around a candlewick and hit it with a spark from my ferro rod... Presto ! Candle lit ! Tried again with a very small piece of regular plain 100% cottonbal, but this burns too fast to light the wick.
This is solved by scraping a tiny bit of wax from the candle with your fingernail and putting that on/in the dry cotton that is now on the wick. Works like a charm everytime !
I think lint from your pockets or scraped from clothing would also work.
Haven't tried yet but I assume very fine natural tinder (i.e. cattail down} would work also. Just don't forget to scrape a bit of wax on it.
Regards,
Pharaoh.

Hi, yes, itīs a good method. Itīs quite cool and useful "trick" to light a candle using ferro. rod.
I once managed to light a candle only by sparks when testing my Strike Force. I laid the candle on the ground and put the rod very close to the wick, then after several strikes, the wick caught a spark and started to burn. I was quite surprised how easy it was.

I should have thought of that of that. Pharaoh, you are the man of the day.

And be careful with the cat tail fluff- it goes up as fast as gunpowder, only not as hot.

I always carry jute twine with me. Fray the end, spark it, light the candle. You can use the twine for lots of other uses, too.

The more you can process the wick into finer individual thread, the better it will take a spark from you ferro rod.
