I'm not affiliated or anything with Scrap Yard although I love their products, I just wanted to give anybody who was looking for a 7 inch good camp knife for chopping or what have you that Scrap Yard has them up on their site. Finally they are going to a semi what ordering system. Anyway this is a heads up only for those needing a super strong, lifetime warranty knife for heavy use, not a plug or advertisement

I cannot imagine what I would ever do with one of those thick things. For a 7" knife a thinner Leuko is my choice.

This Iisakki Järvenpää 7” Leuko from Ben at Ben’s Backwoods is very reasonably priced and in my view a knife that can be used.

Anybody make a 'modern' leuko? I'm thinking a very similiar set up, but maybe a kydex sheath and rubber grip?

Why go Scrapyard SR-77, when for a little more money you can have INFI? Plus, then you get to sit at the Hog's trough.

Then again, for the uninitiated INFI may be more than they can handle. SR-77 might be a good place to start, then move up to Swamp Rat's SR-101 steel, then maybe if they think they can deal with it, buy one of those Busse Specials.

LOL. All of the above are made by the same manufacturing group. I think Scrapyard is Jerry Busse's brother or some such, Swamp Rat is owned and run by his wife, and Jerry runs the Busse shop. They are all good quality knives made from three different steel alloys out of the same facility. This is just the way they talk about each other's products on their forums and such. You should see them at the knife shows.

INFI too much to handle for the uninitiated? You make it sound like it's some sort of mystical magic steel. C'mon, it basically comes down to a hunk of metal with a sharpened edge, nothing more. They're good knives, yes, but you don't need special training to use it.

I guess you have to own one to know. That INFI is some incredible stuff. It might even sharpen to a Gary Gygax +1 or +2 attack. Jerry must have elves working at his forge.

LOL

In jest, I was referring to the awesome power of the INFI steel alloy used to make those mystical magic blades Jerry sells.

Truth is, all the busse knives I've ever seen are functional, and have a heckuva good guarantee. They're good, but they can get very expensive, and the hype can make buying them a bit addictive. That's why only part of my knife collection is from Busse and Co., if I see a knife I want, I buy it, I don't really care that much who made it or what it's made out of, although I have some idea what each one is capable of.
