Where to buy?

Well after looking around a bit I found:

http://www.usplastic.com
This place sells underground cistern tanks, buckets and just about any other food and water grade storage device you could need.

If you have links to manufacturers and wholesale distributors that supply food and water storage containers for direct purchase, please post in this thread.

Thanks,

-JRJ

(I am in no way affiliated with any company listed!)

I've driven by this location several times in the past few years (they sell to the public) but it has never been convenient to stop or they were closed at the time. It would be neat to stop and see what they have to offer. Maybe one day!

Thank you very much JRJ. I've been looking for a "reasonable" deal on larger plastics and 55 gallon drums, with decent shipping prices. Another option I've considered is Kaufman Container Co. They offer a decent price but have a $150 minimum order to the public. They have locations in many major cities so shipping usually is less of an issue.

I work for a place that sometimes throws away 35 and 55 gallon drums. They were all used to hold detergents or soaps. I've taken a few and turned them into rain barrels, though I never felt comfortable enough with cleaning them out to drink them them. I use the rain water for gardening and, in the event of a water shut-down, flushing the toilet and bathing. I plan to buy a 55 gallon drum for my drinking water with smaller 5 gallon containers for distribution.

What is your system like or what will it be?
Thanks again.
Michael

I have purchased a lot of items over the years from US Plastics and they have been absolutely top notch. Customer service has been over the top no matter what my order size. If you are purchasing a lot of items, it might make sense to pool a purchase and/or drive there to reduce shipping costs.

The biggest purchase I made was a bunch of new food grade 55 gal water barrels. IIRC correctly, that shipment had a sheet of 1/8" virgin pvc sheet 4' x 8' packed in (as packing - don't recall exactly). I still have not run out of uses for pieces off that sheet of plastic...

Again, a great company to deal with; good folks.
