As many here know, ETS Foundation is conducting a test and evaluation of PLBs for Coast Guard aircrew and rescue swimmer use. As part of that process we need a few of the original Garmin eTrex GPS, any of the eTrex versions will do. Newer eTrex models with C, Cx, H, HC or HCx designations will not do for our purposes. We just need to borrow these for about 4 weeks starting in late January. If you have an older eTrex in good working condition and can lend it to us, please contact me at:

etrex@equipped.org

Thanks,

I have an "older" etrex, bought it about two years ago. It might work.

So is it the older less sensitive units you are looking for Doug to compare the sensitivity of the newer Epirbs? For example: if the Epirb doesn't lock on to a fix but the old less sensitive units do then you know the chip set in the newer Epirbs are worthless.

Sorry, but I cannot discuss the testing details.

Not a problem, I was just wondering, I didn't know it was that confidential. Anyhow good luck on the tests.
