I was wondering if anybody had any experience with Vargo, I saw a new product coming on line that I was looking at called a Vargo ResTek Backpack and I have e-mailed them asking about max dimensions on there dry bags. Here's the idea a Watershed Mississippi dry bag on a Vargo ResTek Backpack. I live in a wet prone area that is a constant with wet environment and also with more fierce hurricanes and floods with a possibility of Katrina type action. I have converted a long range BOB that I use a travel dolly to move around and I have a backpack conversion rig but it doesn't have much load bearing capabilities like how Osprey distributes there load. I use the travel dolly to move the bag around urban environments but the backpack if I need to go off trail. It's not designed for camping just strictly long range survival. I chose the watershed bags having owned 2 now due to I can dive/swim or what have you or use them as a back up raft with all of my dry cloths and gear inside. It has on board desaltinators, filters, purifiers, solar, gps, fire, compass, maps, first aid, rescue equipment and the list goes on. Yes it is very heavy but its designed for truck or traveling with the portable dolly and it is heavy with the current backpack rig but I am trying to improve on this. It is in constant evolution with trying to get the best bang for the buck so I was seeing if anybody had any ideas on a backpack carrying system that would be like this or better for carrying heavy weight and distributing it. And not an Alice Pack, carried one in the corps and they are as 40's mentalities as it gets.
Thanks
