These 2 guys were very lucky and made a decision to walk 8.5 km to save their lives....

CRANBROOK, B.C. -- A soak in the hot springs was a lifesaver for two men after their truck slid off the road and plunged into Whiteswan Lake.

Matt Brunham and his work partner Dustin Tily were heading home from a long day of logging in southeastern B.C. when Brunham lost control of the truck.

The day before, the East Kootenay received 25 cms of snow and for most of Monday it rained. All this made the road along White Swan a sheet of ice.

"We were driving quite slow but we lost control of the truck and we slid off the road and slid along the lake right around the 25-km mark," said Brunham.

"We rolled one and a half times and then went into the lake upside down in the truck. There was approximately four inches of ice on the water. We broke through the ice and the truck instantly filled with water."

It took a cool head and a lot of guts to go back into a sinking vehicle.

Guts is hardly adequate to describe doing that.
