Man dies in fall after surviving 300-foot drop in car.

By Rocky Mountain News
October 8, 2007
RED CLIFF — An Iowa man survived a 300-foot fall in his car, only to die hours later when he walked off a 100-foot cliff, the Vail Daily News reported.

The accident occurred around Sept. 30, but authorities on Sunday released the name of the victim, Justin Parker, 25, of Ames, Iowa.

Parker was driving toward Red Cliff on U.S. 24 when he lost control of his car, Sgt. Greg Daly of the Eagle County Sheriff's Office told the Vail newspaper. The Ford Focus skidded 300 feet down an embankment.

The car was discovered upright on Sept. 30, with footprints leading away from it. A crew in a Colorado Air National Guard helicopter later spotted Parker's body at the bottom of the cliff.

A memorial service was held Saturday for Parker, an Iowa State University student and real estate agent, Eagle County Deputy Coroner Mike Kerst told the Vail Daily.

I know this is wrong and probabley means I'm a sick individual, but I just can't get the image of Wiley Coyote out of my head.

Jeez, can you imagine what was going through his head? Probably along the lines of "You've GOT to be kidding me."

It's only Wile E. if he's got rocket-propelled roller skates and a parachute. Which, of course, half of us probably EDC.

Oh, nice. Proper tragedy this is, with a man in the prime of his life now gone. Images of the coyote indeed. What's really bad about this is I was drinking coffee while reading the response and snorted coffee through my nose all over the screen. It's taken me almost an hour to clean up.

Nice.

He probably had a head injury and just walked in the wrong direction.

Before venturing out to find help he should have had few drinks smile . I have drunk people that fall six stories or get tumbled by trains that I pull out with a broken ankle or something minor. But fall down two steps while sober and you break you neck.
