Hello all, i've been lurking here for a while but with nothing really to contribute until now. I started getting interested in wilderness preparedness after stumbling across this site last year. Previously, i had done some urban preparedness by putting together a kit for the car which came in useful during the 1994 quake here in LA.

Anyway, i came across this guy's videos on google and they are pretty amazing. They are mostly in Swedish with English subtitles and evidently self-produced at very high quality.

He seems to follow the principles of wilderness survival discussed here and in many books and it was great to see someone actually start a fire with a Mora knife, some charcloth and a piece of rock.
I'm also glad to see that he is releasing these videos in a non-proprietary manner and hope that he makes more. Don't everybody hit his servers at once! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I downloaded and watched these shows the other night. They were pretty good, and well worth watching. Thanks for the link aardvark!

Two parts I really enjoyed were the segments where he broke down the contents he carried along with him, especially the contents of his PSK, and the Blood glucometer tests he did while enduring a day in the cold with no food. I would never have guessed spruce tea would have done so much for blood sugar levels. There were many other good segments as well, but these two really stood out in my mind.

I hope Michel continues the series.

Sure there were technical difficulties, but overall the quality was pretty good. By the third episode I was glad that he started doing voice overs in english. I stink at reading subtitles and watching a show at the same time. LOL

Anyway. Good show, and thanks for the link!

Hi Doug, that's great that you have mirrored the videos, i was afraid people had slashdotted his server since it seemed slow. Evidently it got cross-posted to outdoors-magazine.
