Folks, I ordered the MK1 Doug Ritter Knife as soon as Aeromedix.com announced it for sale for the introductory price of $104.95. Don't you just love it when you do something good for yourself.

I have had my knife long enough to become dependent. I would no more think about putting on my pants without clipping it in my pocket than I would travel without an ID.

I used it every day. Honest it is the single most practical, handy, useful, attractive gift for the money I have ever given to myself.
Every one should own one. Buy it for yourself or give one to someone you love, everyone needs a Doug Ritter MK1.

Due to a discussion in another thread I got myself very curious about the RSK and I ordered one too. I even sprang for overnite shipping so I could take it on my hike this weekend. As I travel *extremely* light there is only room on my hikes for one knife. This time I'm taking the RSK. We'll see how well it fares since I use my knives pretty hard. My first impression is A++++. Worth every penny I paid (including overnight shipping). I can tell you right now I can (and did partially) shave my face with it. We'll see if I still can still shave with it by Sunday night. If it holds that kind of an edge after a weekend hiking and primitive camping with me in the thick woods and rugged terrain here in TX then it's a keeper for sure! I will also be bringing my new Kenwood F6A but hopefully I will only be testing its reception capabilities and not transmission capabilities since I can only legally transmit in an emergency situation right now and I don't really want to have any emergencies this weekend. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Brian You will love your F6 radio I have a vx5r and vx150 and love them both, when will you be getting your license?.
I'm an Extra and from what I've heard it will get harder to get an Extra class license.
Best of luck getting your license

OT: Where did you hear that it would be getting harder to get an Extra? (I've already got mine too, but...)

This F6A is a great little gadget but with so many features it is also amazingly confusing but I do have a background in computers and commercial RF (Radio/TV) so I imagine I'll figure it out in time. Forgive my nievety but is the "extra" another term used to refer to the "no code" license because if that's the case and it's going to become more difficult to get then I will probably start studying today and take the test at my local club asap!

There is 3 license classes Tech no code,General,Extra
General and Extra giving you hf 160 meters to 10 meters.
I read it somewhere on Eham.net that getting your Extra
was going to get tougher I lookeed but cant seem to find it.
Going to have to get a ft60 ,got some features I want.

I see.... thanks for clearing that up! I have looked at some samples of the no-code test and I don't think I'll have any trouble with it.
