I went into my local Wally World last night and cruised back to the outdoor section while the other half was browsing the shoes... On their counter back there they had a box with various knives on discount. I seen the S.A.K. logo and checked it out. I was able to pick up a brand new in the box Champion Plus for $27US! I was a very happy camper. I've been able to put it down once or twice since then. But only with the strictist self control! <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

I just wanted to thank you. I saw your post over on BF and ran out to my local Wal-Mart and picked up their last one. The SAK Champion was my first EDC back in 1985 and I carried it faithfully until around 2000. It was beat up, blades regrounded, and now retired to the safe. Funny thing is I paid about $55 back in 1985 when I bought the original Champion (without eyeglass screwdriver, pin, pen and hook).

Thanks again,

Chris

It's amazing how the price can drop once it's been upgraded! I couldn't pass up what seemed like a great deal. I owe thanks to everyone who posted and left me know what I had in my pocket. Do you know of any good S.A.K. sites in which I might be able to download the specs to the Champion Plus? The box it came in was fairly plain. I like to keep that kind stuff. So far I am enjoying my new EDC quite nicely!

None that I'm aware of. Basically take the Swiss champ and take away the pliers. You may want to get up with the user " UnknownVT" on Bladeforums or Candlepowerforums, as he seems to have scans or pictures of virtually everything related to Victorinox.

I too picked up a Champion Plus at Wal Mart on clearance.I got my first Champion SAK in the ships store for $21.00.That was in 1986 while I was in the navy.I carried it half way around the world and back four different times.I still have it and was glad that they made them again.I find it as handy as my Leatherman Super Tool.I just wish I picked up two instead.

Wooo Hooo! Just found a Champion Plus at my local Wallyworld for $20! I was actually looking for some subsonic .22 ammo (which they were out of), when I suddenly heard the siren call of a homeless SAK. Poor little feller looked so lonesome, I just had to give it a home!
