OK - we've had an opportunity to watch the two videos mentioned on here previously (Canada Discovery TV). Our thought was that these will stimulate very useful discussions with the Scouts and raise their interest level (although it's pretty good now).

After reviewing the two videos, we think that's right on target. These are not "How-to" videos; they are documentary and suceed in giving some of the "feel" of being stuck out. Kudos to Les!

We're planning to show one of the videos to the Troop next week and we'll see where that takes us.

Again, don't expect these to be nifty little "How-to" videos. Easy to Monday-morning QB what Les did and did not do, but then, Les does a fair bit of that himself in the videos, and it actually makes these much better suited for what we are after than a "perfect" ordeal shot on video by a crew. These appear to be truly honest documentaries of what REALLY happens with an experienced person.

I cannot imagine the "overhead" or burden of having to video oneself whilst doing this. The Winter video somewhat reflects this overhead (plus the loss of one camera to cold). However, I've spent nights out at -40 deg and colder without shelter etc. as Les did and it is darned tough - not something most folks would do well in. That he continued to video portions of the ordeal is laudable.

Nice productions, Les.
