This item is also marketed by Adventure Medical Kits.

I have one. Much better than a space blanket or garbage bags, but I wish it would pack smaller.

There is also a "blanket" version. The "sack" is, of course, more efficient for heat, but the flat "blanket" can also be used to create a little precious shade in the hot sun- much more versatile in the desert.

I have had similar thoughts on the sack vs. blanket problem. I too have chosen the blanket. A blanket could also make a reflector for your campfire if tied between two trees (or whatever). You can also walk with a blanket wrapped around you.
I have used a space blanket only once. It was during that huge snowstorm that covered the eastern USA in 93. Those things will cook you alive. I found myself constantly letting cold air inside the blanket.
I do not forsee myself in the arctic circle or crashed on the side of a tall mountain so I will stick to the blanket.

Sack + sharp = blanket/tent/reflector/whatever.

Besides, this thing is large enough (I have one) that wraping a space blanket round the sack inside it's carry bag adds negligable bulk and weight.

Personally, I don't find it suitable for a PSK (even the "in the woods" PSK) unless you do something like flatten it out in the game pocket of a vest.

It IS bulky as far as fitting in a pocket goes. If you vacuum-packed it, it might take up the space of a VHS tape. In its stuff sack it compresses into the size of 2 VHSs stacked together.
