Sad and remarkably tragic ending. One has to wonder what investigation will reveal about the cause of this fatality.

Very sad. No matter how experienced you are accidents and/or bad luck can take you down.

And at 78 years old, age can take you down as well. That's sad. He was surely in much better shape at 78 than I am at 60. But the body only lasts so long, even if it's in good shape.

You have to admire someone who could (and would!) climb that mountain so many hundreds of times.
