The difficulty is in finding a reputable lab that is willing to do it or is affordable. I was also using local ground water to first establish what contaminants were present. I do not own a sterile or sufficiently controlled environment to perform the tests myself.
My purpose has been to find the right filter system for my scouts for the environments they are exposed to.
I also do not blindly accept the test results posted by the manufacturers.
I want to find one that does both biological and chemical contaminants. This is the one I like:
Renovo Most college chemistry labs can easily do the chemical testing, some college biology labs can do some bacterial testing, but I am told that testing for viruses is a bit more involved and that they were not willing to do it. They would need assays for the specific biological contaminant, which can be expensive.
Science is not hard, I just want the testing to be done somewhere other than my garage.
