family gets lost at sea for weeks....

Happy the children survived. Doesn't always work out well when the "responsible" adults loose touch with nasty reality.

I would chalk it up to folks actively seeking their Darwin Award if it wasn't for the kids involved. I'm glad to see it ended well...this time.

Funny that they're looking "for a new plan." They don't see getting home alive as "God's plan" for them?

I think everybody has been biting their tongue on this one. It has everything a moderator could desire: religion and politics.

On the one hand, I'm glad they survived. I'm especially glad their children did not die as a result of their actions. And I salute the many people who went out of their way to bring them home.

On the other hand, I feel pretty strongly that God/Nature (adjust per your POV) provided a head to be used and not just as a convenient place to hang a hat.

As for the "next plan," perhaps a more balanced view of The Old Book would be a good first step. My knowledge of scripture is rusty, but I do recall the phrase "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." Wise words from the ages.

My questions:

Did plane tickets ever come up during their plans?

Did they not check that with the rising oceans the nation of many small islands right above sea level has already lost villages to the ocean and is planning contigency plans to evacuate their entire the country in the not to distant future? ...10 minutes learning about where they were heading on the Internet.

The only thing I can say is I'm happy the children are safe.
