A brief power outage this morning resulted in a few electronic "chirps" that reminded me I need to replace the batteries in the smoke detectors today. While doing that, I thought I may as well update my PSK and FAKs too. I was out of bandaids in the FAK and the meds were consumed so I refreshed from the medicine cabinet. (I also stopped by Home Depot and picked up another 3A40BC fire extingquisher for the garage.)

This is my current lists for my PSK and FAKs. Some items wear out like the Loksak bag so I replaced that; some items were consumed like the Tinder-Quiks so I added some more tinder. My meds are specific to me as I have hay-fever, hives and leg cramps. These kits fit in an outer pocket of my EDC daypack along with a Wilderness Medicine Guide, compass, another whistle, more duct tape, Fenix P3D, lighter, chem snap-light and pair of reading glasses. The pack has other items but this forms the core of my EDC bag. Some of these items get transfered to my vest when it's not so warm out. My philosophy is that the kits should be everday use not just emergency use. Blue indicates differing from original kit.

Roarmeister,

You got all of those medical items into the Aloksak bag in the AMK .5 kit case?

Not quite, the charcoal hand warmers and the G2 powder paks fit into the outer AMK bag along with the Aloksak bag. These items are likely waterproof enough in their wrappers that only a sustained soaking would change their effectiveness. The Aloksak is marginally larger than the one that came with the original AMK kit. Actually, there is room for a bit more stuff in the outer ripstop nylon bag but I want to keep the volume down to make it easier to transfer to cargo pants pockets.

On the other hand the plastic pouch for the PSK is maxed out and is ready to burst the seams! Getting a replacement pouch soon is high on my list. Anyone know if the PSK+ pouch is available separately?
