This stuff was what I did in the hospital during my wife's recovery over the weekend. I've been doing a lot lately so I'm used to it, but oh if I were not I'd be hurting right now. My forearms are starting to look like Popeye's!

hey blast, it's called a 'french whipping knot' - a series of half hitches. go here: French whipping for a video on how to. also found on ship's wheels. steering wheels, too.

thanks bsmith! its also called DNA knot/stitch for obvious reasons. same as the "cobra stitch" people use for paracord bracelets; just don't alternate the square knots. the beauty of this piece is that you it contains 5' if heavy duty jute; so you only need to cut 1/4" off, fuzz it up to get tinder to hit w/ firesteel. the nature of the knot keeps it from unraveling further so its there when you need it again.
