I have been able to get hold of 4 yards of Polartec Power Shield Softshell fabric from rockywoods.com giving about 60 square feet of material.

The material is quite lightweight, about the same weight as Polartec 200 fabric. It is windproof and breathable with a high abrasion outer softshell nylon fabric and a hi loft fleecy inside backing providing a high warm to weight ratio.

Any ideas for what to make and what patterns are available online? (From a simple blanket to something like a bod-i-bag or poncho liner or a bivi bag etc.)

Personally I really like this idea. I'd skip the chest pocket though. If any pockets, maybe either handwarmer or BDU-style (either below or above the belt line). Alternately, maybe pockets over the hips, so the weight distribution hangs directly under the shoulders? Just a thought.

I assume outdoor-use, right?

4 yards probably isn't quite enough, but I'm sure the material would make a good emergency-bivy. More warm/solid than a HeatSheet bivy, less weight than a traditional sleeping bag.
