The Houston/Galveston National Weather Service 2008 Hurricane Workshop, themed Ready or Not, will offer information on evacuation routes, power restoration, planning for individuals with special needs and even a new "Ask your television meteorologist" session and a presentation by Meteorologist/Astronaut Mario Runco. Sponsored by CenterPoint Energy and supported by the City of Houston, the event is free and open to the public.
Stop by the exhibit area to pick up free hurricane preparedness video and other vendor-provided items and to participate in interactive demonstrations and preparedness kit building provided by Wal-Mart and Home Depot. The interactive Kid Zone will feature an appearance from Radio Disney, the Kid Safe ID Program, a scavenger hunt and activities at each exhibit booth.

Visuals: * From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., CenterPoint Energy will demonstrate the power of electricity to encourage everyone to stay away from downed power lines after a storm. The electric safety demonstration will show the dangerous effects when tree limbs or clothing come in contact with a power line.
