I'll be traveling to Phoenix, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon next week and I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for any "toy" stores in the Phoenix area. I'll have a little free time for gear shopping...
Well, the selction in our REI stores suck in comparison to other REIs I ahve been too. However, we do have a Cabela's now and Sportsman Wearhouse is worth visiting. Arizona Hiking Shack is a great little shop, lots of technical gear and very very knowledgable staff.

A couple more toy stores you might want to visit are Shooter's World and Scottsdale Gun Club. At Shooter's World you can rent any number of guns to try or bring your own. You don't have to be a member to use the range. Scottsdale Gun club is one big toy store.
Another great store in Phoenix is the Wide World of Maps. They have a great selection of compasses, maps and a lot more.
