I had one of those "everyday emergencies" yesterday: lost a screw from my glasses. Luckily, I had a little eyeglass repair kit with me. It got me thinking about what we can carry for those everyday emergencies. I have the eyeglass repair kit, thread/needles, safety pins, a small bottle of stain remover, Leatherman Micra...but, I'd like to hear your ideas. What do you carry for those everyday emergencies?

A small first-aid kit. Just something simple. I got a small plastic, easy-open Q-Tips case from the travel-sized section of WallyWorld, and put some individual wiper/cleaner packs, some Neosporin packs, tweezers, a needle and a good supply of fabric bandaids in it.

When I'm not at home, a leatherman, a baby prybar, at least one flashlight, a micra, a folding kerambit (great pocket knife), and this. I don't belive in not having the proper tool at hand. :P

Jim's answer was simple, and so true!

My EDC will change slightly depending on what I expect that day, although some core elements are always with me...including an eyeglasses repair kit!

I'm revising my EDC bags right now...one is still on order actually. I've got a Max Proteus that carries what I usually carry in cargo pockets...when I'm not wearing anything with cargo pockets. I ordered a Max Devildog to act as a medium sized EDC bag so I can carry water bottles and a few things for a normal day. Then I have a THE Pack which I use when I need my laptop and accessories. It is also holding the Packrat that I used as an EDC bag. That had a combination of EDC and emergency gear, but it's been in the THE Pack so long, since I started wearing cargos, that I've decided to switch the Packrat to emergency gear. I'm working on fitting an AMK Heatsheet and maybe a Tacoma Storm Shelter in there among other things, so if I have the THE Pack, I hope to be pretty well set up. The Packrat has a strap attached in case I need to ditch the THE Pack (although I can't see myself parting with it!)

I also carry Wet Ones antibacterial wipes in some form, Off! Wipes and Shout wipes...all of which come in very hand with small children

Speaking of which, Hefty Handi Saks are invaluable, especially when you are around small children, and they are inexpensive and compact.

I'm also working on putting together an "equipped" diaper bag (since we have one on the way )

She's been looking at those darn Eddie Bauer bags again, but I'm planning on trying to fit the essentials into a Spec Ops All Purpose bag. I can't tell from online pictures if it will be a good size for what we need...but she already picked a color for the Spec Ops bag, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Now if Spec Ops or Maxpedition or someone like that made mil spec strollers...

Did this one myself, there is a thread I started specifically asking what we should put in one. What we ended up doing is taking the free diaper bag the hospital gave us and putting a few things in it for emergencies.
