My wife was watching Oprah... oh well why try to hide it, I was watching Oprah tonight and she has a guy on that is a Bird Flu expert advising what everyone should be doing to get ready, stockpiling food etc. So, think there will be a run on canned goods now that Oprah is in on the action?

I don't think there will be a run on food supplies based on the words of an Oprah guest, but if the show inspires a few more people to begin preparing for an emergency, I think that's great.
It might make a few people start thinking.... maybe. A few of them might even stir themselves and buy a few cans of pork and beans.
A "Bird Flu Expert" ... there have only been maybe less than 200 cases, spread all over the Far East. I wonder how many of them the Expert has seen? Since it's still a bird-to-human contact disease, maybe he's a veterinarian? <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

If you watched the show the "expert" was very well spoken and was not pushing a panic button. He was very careful about what he said. You know what, it made my wife think about it and we're adding to our supplies. What was the harm? In fact I'm happy that it was on. Thank you Oprah.
Actually, Oprah does occasionally have guests that serve a useful purpose. And she DID send something like nine truckloads of emergency supplies to NOLA. At least she puts her money where her mouth is.
