can you purchase pemmican or do you have to make it at home? what is the advantage of this verses say an MRE?

Never seen REAL pemmican for sale anywhere, but who knows??? As far as comparing/contrasting it with an MRE... personal choice counts for a lot, but you can put a lot more fat/protein/vitamins/minerals in the same space if you go with the pemmican. As far as flavor goes, they're both the same, some people love it (either one) while others can't choke it down to (literally) save their life.

Nutritionally you will want something more balanced than the high protein content of jerky or pemmican. If your in a survival or bugout scenario and can carry food, carry what you know. An upset stomach from an abrupt dietary change to 'Wild hog a la Rambo' isn't exactly as romantic as that sleek blade we all bought after discovering ETS. My BOB menu includes a nice Chianti, sausage, cheese,bread and Grey Poupon. I'll actually use my corkscrew.
