None seem to be reviewed very well, though. I want a radio small enough to include in a portable kit.

I was looking at the one here: http://www.batterysavers.com/Windupradio.html

Thoughts, anyone?

I have a Grundig FR200 that does well for me.
Eton is now importing them in their name, with a few more models available.
Some even have cell phone chargers built in.

Interesting!

I'm glad to see a simple wind up radio without all those attachments that serve only to make it bulky

Here is a second vote for the Grundig FR-200. The built in light is a little cheesy but much better now that they went to LED. The Grundig is my normal use radio for around the house and in the shop. The wind up works well but it uses batteries so slowly that I normally run it off of AA batteries, as it’s very cheap to operate.

I just got my Grundig FR200. I like it pretty well. I just tested the time for hand cranking it and for 90 seconds of cranking i got about 15 minutes of music. I also bought a DuraPro selfpowered flashlight. Its an LED light that you can run either 1 Led or all 3 LEDs it seems pretty cool also. I got both of them at Lowe's radio was 50$ and flashlight was 22$

Craig,
I saw that same radio at Walgreens for under $20.00. For a led wind up light check out Costco, they have a light made by durapro, you get two for under $20.00 also. This is what they are selling here in Florida, I can only assume that elsewhere it may be the same.
