I imagine the company sells lots of these, but I can't imagine any woman really being better off:

"Safety Girl" Kit

I've noticed when they package "emergency gear" for ladies, they tend to choose the cheapest, silliest stuff available and wrap it up in bright, happy colors. The "Miss A Kit," mentioned here previously by me, is only $20 and is a halfway-decent concept, but is shabbily made. Cuteness aside, the "Safety Girl" kit is sorely lacking in supplies.

Yes, women have a few different needs when it comes to preparedness, but we don't need these "toys." It's starting to tick me off.

It looks like something they would be trying to sell to a little girl... maybe they meant it for blondes. Gotta watch out for life-threatening halitosis and broken nails!

Breath Freshener, Aromatherapy Headache Remedy & Spot Remover -- Do you guys see where you've been going wrong in your EDC and BOBs?

Thanks for the laugh, Christina!

Although I take your point, I think it's a good idea to mix emergency stuff with convenience stuff in one package. You are more likely to have the emergency stuff with you when you need it, if you are carrying it for the sake of the convenience stuff. A few luxuries like chocolate are a fit reward for preparedness.

Sometimes the best response is resounding silence and the idiots either go away, go out of business or build a quality product. I was putting together my first real wardrobe together in San Francisco while stationed there. That town still had a genteel element that expects ladies to wear gloves and men ties in certain establishments and public venues. I picked out a 'dusty rose' dress shirt. My barracks mate began making cracks about my pink shirt going over well on Polk and Castro. The haberdashery was a famed british store. The proprietor gave my roommate a pained look and dryly replyed " my Spitfire was painted pink." Later I asked my old airstation skipper if he was making a joke. the captain pulled out a book from his extensive collection and opened a two page spread of a WW2 photo recon Spit- painted pink It seems pink is a very effective camoflage colour in the sky- more so than pale blue. As it was, the gay population popularised leather bomber jackets and moustaches that season, both of which our Coastie Airdales wore as social identification and discarded rapidly

I personally liked the attitude of World Champion drag racer Shirley Muldowney, who painted her championship racer pink, wore a pink fireproof suit, and had all her macho mechanics wear pink coveralls. Her attitude was "If you don't like racing against a woman, I'm going to make sure everybody watching knows you got your ass kicked by a woman."

As offensive and patronizing as this appears to be, I think you really need to look at who their customer base is. (It appears to be "spoiled little valley girls and wannabes".) In that case, their products don't seem to be really aimed at anyone with a brain. (Their web site sucks big-time, anyway - only someone with waaay too much free time would actually sit through the product presentations.)

If you thought the "Safety Girl" was bad, did you check out their "Miss Army" knife?

http://www.productjunkies.com/missarmy.htm

Everything a girl could possibly need in a compact little kit.
Lightweight Miss Army Knife comes with 15 must-have female emergency items.

Includes a flashlight, needle and thread, nail file, scissor, pill box, mirror, safety pin, tweezer.
Secret compartment to put an emergency bottle of perfume!
Very easy-to-carry in your purse or on a keychain.

Fits in your pocket or purse! Seen on NBC's Today Show and featured in US Weekly.

Maybe they're not being condescending! Maybe they're trying to sneak survival preparedness in through the back door?

Anyway, trust me, Christina - you are NOT part of their target demographic.

I guess I have to asy that if the knife is good quality, it's a start. If SAK was making it I'd get 1 for my wife.

I'm glad somebody remembers "Cha-Cha". She was the best (except for maybe "Big Daddy" Don Garlits). They went head-to-head many a time. Excuse me, now I think I'm going to go out and buy "Heart Like a Wheel" on DVD.

Regards, Vince
