How and what are Tampons constructed of?
Are there different layers?
Most importantly do some brands have a non adherant outer layer, if so, which brands?

Do I really want to pack a wound with the bleach and other chemicals such as the fragrances? How does viscus rayon affect a wound?

well the absorbent is made of cotonwol, don't know what the "silk toush" outerlayer and stuff is made from. But the core is always cotonwol, wenn they used synthetic fibers, there was a increase of cases of toxic shock syndrom. Synthetics are more absorbent and worked to well in absorbing the fluids, causing extra bacteria grow.

Sanitary Napkins are an excellent compress in an emergency when dedicated medical materials aren't available. It's like drinking polluted water. You can drink it and live long enough to treat any nasties in hospital. It's the same with a tampon. Stop the bleeding and worry about perfumes later. This doesn't mean Tampons are a superior substitute for medical compresses. MacGuyver Swiss Army Knife tricks are impressive, but so is having proper gear to begin with.

In my opinion a sanitary pad is better suited as an emergency compress than a tampon. Being wide and flat, they are better shaped to fit most injuries...

I've read of British soldiers including tampons for gunshot wounds and as emergency tinder. They do come in a variety of sizes (diameter), the small sizes are recomended for bullet sized holes.
