After reading Doug's latest reviews on PSKs I was intrigued by the inclusion of disposable sunglasses. This will be a great idea for me as my eyes are quite sensitive to bright sun and I would be in trouble if caught w/o sunglasses.

I did some net research and most suppliers want to sell these items in bulk only. Thanks, but I don't need 100 pairs of disposable sunglasses.

However I found an online company that was willing to sell individual pairs at the same unit price you get when buying in bulk: about 30 cents per pair. Not bad!

Look for the "Rollens" and "Solarettes" styles at http://www.npoptical.com/post_mydriatic_supplies.htm

The Rollens roll up to about the size of a 35mm film canister. The Solarettes might work better in some PSKs because they fold flat. I ordered a few of each just to try them out.

Hey,

Did you ever order those rollens and solarettes like you mentioned? How are they? Are they dark? What is the size of the flat ones?

Thanks.

Yes, I got a few of each. IMO the rollups aren't very secure on the face and seem very easy to pop off, especially if you brush up against something. The solarettes are much more secure. Both types are plenty dark and give full UV ray protection. I'm putting the solarettes in my kits.

I don't have them here in front of me, but the solarettes (folded) are about 5-1/2" long, 1-1/2" wide, and perhaps 3/8" thick.

Note

I got some these as a disposable beach-sunglass once and they had a skinny elastic band to keep them on, similar to the old ( current ) halloween masks.
