Came across this today. Has anyone used one? Could be usefull even if you don't own a Zippo. Possible multiple uses? Theres not really enough info to tell.

I have one concern. Disposable BIC type lighters have been the source of several nasty burns. The owners were working in close proximity to heat generating devises that ignited the fuel. This container looks more substantial, so it may not be an issue. I wouldn't want to start a FLAME WAR with the fine folks at Zippo

Someone posted a picture of one of these, taken from the Zippo website, a while ago, but there was very little info available on it there, either.

I would at least like to know how big it is. From the picture it looks quite small but that could be misleading.

I'd have concerns about the damn thing unscrewing itself in my pocket and soaking my leg in naphtha.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't taking raw fuel with you or in carry on luggage a TSA "NO NO"?

I would think so. You're allowed lighters with raw fuel in it though, but you don't argue with the TSA dudes. I'd put it on the "remove before flight" part of my keychain.

Hey Chris,
workers in high temp. conditions have been carrying Zippos for years for that very reason, butane explodes all at once, but the fuel in Zippos leaks off and dissipates before igniting, it can still cause a nasty contact burn (skin irritation), but it doesn't blow your leg off. I don't know how hot it would have to get to get one of these to explode, but I would guess (with VERY high confidence) that it would be well beyond the point of endurance of the human body. I do know though, of three persons in the last 30 years that, while working at a glass plant, bacame permenantly disabled due to carrying butanes. It's now a firing offence to be caught with a butane lighter on the hot line at Owens-Brockway, but Zippos and their knock-offs are OK to have, that alone's got to tell you something.

Using my handy-dandy new conversion site:

2.75" x .75", holding almost 1/3 oz.

That's a very interesting point about the heat issue and the policies at the glass plant. I like to think of my EDC items as being able to handle any environment that my body can handle. Perhaps I should reconsider carrying butane lighters and start carrying my permanent match exclusively. I know when I was a kid we used to blow up bic lighters intentionally and it's not the type of explosion you want to have happening in your pocket!

Own one. Used it for around 1 yr. Solid, doesn't leak. DOES retain fuel (as I've noted in the many Zippo threads)
I use the smaller Zippo lighter, and get 2 fills to 3 fills from the canister.
