Looks interesting. Evidently it was at the SHOT show. I can't find any info other than what is on their website.

Anybody have any additional info or thoughts?

I am starting to wonder if there is anybody who does not have a knife to sell.

LOL, my thoughts exactly.

I don't know about everybody else but if I had to pick a real hardcore survival knife, it sure wouldn't look anything like that thing.

Looks fine to me - loads of guys who walk the walk carry quite small blades. I like the pry hook at the end too (saves using the point of the blade for stuff)

It's marked as an 'at hand blade', which I think is the point - easy to carry, not obtrusive and there when you need it.

At first I was excited about it but the more I thought about it the more it looked gimmicky.
Ergonomic Design- Most knives are.
Saw point- Huh?
Wire Cutter- Where? If intended for copper, most knives can cut average copper wire.
Dual Vertical Lashing points- any knife can be lashed with enough cord.
Fulcrum Hinge Mounting point- Huh?
Inside/outside Hand grip- I guess for a brass knuckles type of use?
Designed for field sharpening- Huh? Ok, maybe the grind is simple as opposed to multi bevel etc. But most production knives are simple bevels.
Pry bar/scraper/hook- OK, with a kydex sheath on, I guess you could pry without cutting through the sheath from the leverage. Not a very "hooky" hook.
Open fighting grip- Ok, Saber or icepick hold I think.
Secret Storage Capsule- You all know where to keep that if you really want it to be kept secret..
Bottle opener- Big deal. If you can't open a bottle on the edge of a table, etc or by breaking the neck off, then your next trip should't involve being bombed, arrested(they'll take the knife away), kidnapped, crashed etc.
His picture and bio reminds me of Geraldo Rivera.
I'll bring my Leatherman Wave, to answer the question of what knife to bring. I do like the Izula though.

At hand blade is right. I use my little Buck Hartsook all day long. I have been thinking about the larger Izula, and keeping my eyes out for A Livesay NRGS which I think inspired the Izula.

It does look a little gimmicky, if it wasn't too expensive I might buy it, otherwise I think the money would be better spent on a more traditional knife.

As soon as I can braid some pink paracord on my amazing Ginzu set I'll be writing up a field report from ever dangerous, exotic and situational fluid West Hollywood.

There's nothing at all wrong with a small fixed blade. But I see absolutely no practical value in a knife like this with a skeleton handle.

IMHO any decent knife, especially one meant for serious use, must have a good grip. A skeletonized handle is structurally questionable and at best uncomfortable if not downright dangerous. I won't even comment on the super secret James Bond "capsule" or the overhyped marketing. And if you need paracord, it's better stored in your pocket - or wrapped around the sheath if you REALLY insist on wrapping it around something just for the hell of it.

Like I said, YMMV but in my book, a simple Mora is a billion times better survival knife than this gizmo (and many others just like it, there are plenty out there).

Well, I think the knife has some perfectly practical applications. And it's lightweight with a number of carry options.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

The sarcastic comment I made earlier was about celebrity marketing.

I was not commenting on the quality of the knife at all, really.
(and RAT is known for making good knives)

Just keep in mind that form should follow function and buy on the merits of the product instead of hype, and there is a lot of hype involved in marketing these products.

Most of these knives are actually sold as luxury or prestige items instead of simply just quality grade tools meant to be used, abused and even lost sometimes.

Some of the comments you guys are making are pretty rich though.
I liked Chris's comment.
Maybe he could get Paris Hilton to endorse it.

Paris and I have been working on the PARIS HILTON PLB, or Paris Locater Beacon. The prototype is in pink, with a secure grip of pave' diamonds ( dual use as a knife sharpener has not been investigated.). Unlike most standard PLBs, our effort shows you the location of Paris 24/7. Like she says 'if everyone knows where I am, then they automaticaly should know their place, like that old guy running for some office.'

I wish I could offer a market date, but that girl keeps pulling me away to make another survival video.

A skeleton handle makes for a lightweight neck knife. I have become a neck knife carrier and love being able to carry a fixed blade knife for EDC. I normally carry a CRKT Ryan Plan B and sometimes a Smith & Wesson 990 model with a skeleton handle. The new RAT knife looks like a nice neck knife.

A survival video eh? "Surviving Paris"? Sounds like a doctor visit sequel to "A Night in Paris". Every survival guru should know to carry and proper use for a profilactic Chris.

Hope those shots don't hurt too much. As with geocaching, some would be treasures are better left where they lay. It's one thing to know where it is, another altogether to be able and/or willing to go after it. To quote some good advice from Pete on this one, "Do not seek the treasure!!!"

Neck carry is one of the oldest means. There is utterly no reason to BURDEN oneselve with an inferior system unless, ie it is going into a space critical PSK. We seem determined to reinvent the knife. If some knifemakers marketed tyres traffic fatalities would drop dramatically.

Maybe this knife will prove useful, maybe not but I'm always happy to see new options in the gear marketplace. Separating the wheat from the chaff is part of the fun. RAT Cutlery is known for making some good gear.

What I don't like, though, is the Robert Young Pelton marketing angle. RYP has a reputation for unbridled opportunism and some downright lying, especially concerning private military contractors (PMCs) in the Middle East. Don't make the mistake of taking everything he says at face value.

Kinda reminds me of the masonry business, how many different versions of pre-cast or tooled construction units are being generated, and yet I see chimneys, retaining walls, even houses built from stones gathered from the field.

I suppose when they finally develop the lightsaber style blades, then we will finally have the ultimate knife. Never needs sharpening, cuts through anything, adjustable length, width, and can also be used to make fire or signal a rescue! They won't be able to top that one for a long time I bet.

Must be a typo. 'Saw point' is probably 'Sore point' as in " F*%^$@) knife, it should have came with a S&*!ing handle, not that c£$^ ninja paracord s$£% ".
